"I was 42 years old when I had my heart attack - I never imagined that clinical research would save my life."
Mr. H. F.
Research Participant
Clinical research is designed to show how a new heart or stroke treatment affects people who receive it. The Lancaster Heart & Stroke Foundation has conducted over 200 clinical research trials since 1993. Our goal is to provide you with the latest technology and drug therapy available to treat heart disease and stroke. You and your family are our #1 priority. Also, you will be part of a very special group of individuals who have helped to advance our knowledge regarding the treatment of heart disease and stroke for the benefit of future patients.
The benefits to you of participating in clinical research can be numerous. Medical care associated with research is provided at no cost to you or your insurance company. You will have access to the newest treatment before it is widely available. As a participant you will have access to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; they are available to answer any questions or concerns you or your family may have. Participants are monitored more closely than non-participants. Therefore, any minor change in your condition will be evaluated by the nurse or doctor before it becomes a more serious condition.
Travel to research centers such as Duke University, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland Clinic are no longer necessary to obtain the newest treatments. The Lancaster Heart & Stroke Foundation offers these treatments here in Lancaster. Families can remain together and help each other throughout the course of treatment
“I’m so grateful that my family could stay together during my hospital admission. We’re lucky to have this research available in Lancaster.”
